Our Mission
The Dachshund Haven was started in 2015 by a group of dachshund-loving women who found the need to start a dachshund-orientated foster-based rescue organisation.
Since then, The Dachshund Haven has successfully homed hundreds of dachshunds and dachshund crosses throughout South Africa.
Where we operate
We focus mainly on Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal but also adopt to nearby provinces whilst working with our friends at Cape Dachshund Rescue for any Cape located enquiries.

Our objectives
Rescue
We aim to rescue as many dachshunds as possible, with the goal of rehoming each and every single one of them into homes best suited to their individual needs.
We have dachshunds come into our care from all sorts of backgrounds, and so we work hard in getting to know them personally to ensure we match them with their perfect home.

Support
And finally, we want to support owners, adopters and the public on dachshunds, and ensure that they have a platform for advice and help should they need it.

Educate
Secondly, we want to educate existing and future owners on the dachshund breed, vaccinating, microchipping, and sterilisation as best as possible.
Dachshunds are a unique breed, they have big personalities and can come with health issues - we believe that the transfer of knowledge is what helps dachshund owners and adopters be better prepared for the What If's.

Meet the team
The Dachshund Haven is a rescue that is purely volunteer-run, which means that this is a passion project for everyone involved, and who dedicate their free time in running the organisation.
